  LEVEL 6 FLOOR BONUS UPDATE
There has been some confusion regarding the Level 6 Floor Bonus.
After much dialogue with many coaches and judges, the following interpretation of this rule will be the official position of the TGJA for the remainder of the 2010 season:

Press handstand hold 2 seconds required

Endo roll handstand hold 2 seconds Bonus Awarded

Endo roll handstand hold 1 second but less than 2 sec Bonus Awarded and Deduct 0.3

Endo roll handstand hold less than 1 second No Bonus, Deduct 0.5, CREDIT for skill

Chapter 3 B 1.c. If the part is partially completed (more than 50%) it should receive credit and the appropriate FIG deductions (small, mediu, large or fall)

This is an example of how great our coaches and judges work together for the benefit our gymnasts.

  Texas Coaches –

Please note the correction of the Regional Age Groups for levels 8 & 9 posted below. (It was printed incorrectly in the Texas Rules & Policies which was sent out last week)
Also realize that for the Level 6-E State Meet at Levels 7 – 10 all age groups will be combined for the team competition at each level. E.g. You will have one level 7 team that includes all the age groups for level 7.

Meet Hosts –

It is encouraged that you use that you use the Award System for the level 4 athletes that is used at the state meet for your invitationals. That system is as follows:

For each individual event the top 1/3 will be awarded medals. The top ¼ of the top 1/3 on each event will receive a gold medal. The second ¼ of the top 1/3 on each event will receive a silver medal. The next ½ of the top 1/3 on each event will receive a bronze medal. So if there are 60 gymnasts in an age group 1st-5th place will receive gold, 6th-10th will receive silver, 11th-20th will receive bronze. All Around awards will be given in rank order for the top 1/3.

  Texas Coaches –

Please take note that the dates of the Level 4 & 5 North & South State Championships will take place on the weekend of April 24 & 25. (This is a change from the original dates discussed at the Summer Business Meeting) Please check to make sure this date is correct on your calendars!

Uniform rules for Level 4 are now the same as level 5. Level 4s now have the option to wear competition pants and warm-ups.

Remember Texas State meet entries need to be typed on the “Official Texas Meet Entry Form”. This form is attached, and available on the Texas Men’s Gymnastics website. If you are a club that prepares their entry form, and uses the same one throughout the season, you might want to consider using the Official Texas Meet Entry form throughout the season, so that it is not an inconvenience to use it for the state meet.

Entry Forms
All entry forms to the State Meet must be typed and checked by the coach for accuracy. The official State Entry Form listed in the appendices is the only form that can be used. Incomplete entries will be returned to the coach and may incur late fees. A copy of your USAG Member Athlete Roster and a copy of your USAG Proof of Professional Member must accompany your entry form in order to be accepted.
Texas Rules & Policies 2009-2010

  Texas Coaches,

As per the summer business meeting, and as outlined in the updated Texas Rules & Policies (stated below), ALL Texas Men’s Gymnastics clubs must pay an annual registration fee of $25.00, by January 31st to be eligible to participate in the State Championships.

Registration and Receiving Information
In order to receive important State and Regional information all clubs must be registered with the State Chairman. Club registration is obtained and updated each year from State Meet entry forms and the Texas Summer Coaches Business Meeting. New clubs must fill out a registration form and send it to the Communications Facilitator. A directory containing information on current Texas clubs and coaches will be posted at the Texas website. Clubs not participating at the State Meet or the Summer Coaches Business Meeting for two consecutive years will be dropped from the directory. It is important to have a current email address in your registration information. All information will be dispersed via email.

All clubs must pay an annual registration fee of $25 to the Texas State Account in order to compete in the State Championship Competition. This fee can either be paid at the Summer Business Meeting or given to the Communications Facilitator no later than January 31st. A late fee of $25 will be assessed after January 31st, and teams will not be allowed to participate in the State Championship Meet until Registration Fee is paid.
