Regional Report-Gil Elsass

Regional Championships 2007 will be in Kansas City.  JOPC has mandated that any athlete who is on the national team may petition onto the regional team if thy have and international assignment in direct conflict with State or Regionals.  The Age Group Committee is discussing possible rule changes in the Levels 8-10.

High School Report-JT Fletcher

The high school rules committee decided to adopt the Level 9 rules for high school meets.

Financial Report

State account is very healthy.  Suggestion made to use state funds to host three clinics in different regions of the state.  These funds would come from money that was budgeted to help pay a portion of nationals for Texas qualifiers.  These funds would reach a larger number of Athletes if used to fund a clinic rather than pay a portion of the National Entry Fee.  Tom Meadows will be asked put these clinics together.

Sims Report-Jerit Pogue

Account has around $52,000.  Board has two new members:  Michael Pena is the new vice-president; Greg Schram is the new secretary.  Jerit will explore the idea of holding another poker tournament at GAT.

GAT Liaison Report-Greg Schram

GAT will host the Instructor Training Program 2 for Boys.  This will be for coaches of older and optional athletes.  ITP 1 and General Lectures for boys will still be held.

Judging Update- Jim McKinney

Judges did an excellent job dealing with the new rules.  We once again have the best judges in the country.  A proposal was made to change fee schedule to include National Card holders with 20+ years experience to the same pay as Fig Card holders with 20+ years experience.

New Business

State Committee has decided that we will no longer use a separate meet referee for the state meets.  One of the judges on the panel will act as meet referee and handle inquires.

State Committee wants a committee formed to restructure judges pay rates for the state meets.  Jerit Pogue will chair that committee and meet with Jim McKinney to examine the issue.
